 Several years ago, we talked about the Regression Gap, which is the widening distance between how fast teams ship and how much they can realistically test.  
That gap has grown exponentially in the past few months, resulting in:  
• Faster code generation  
• Rapid configuration shifts  
• Continuous feature experimentation  
• Shorter and more frequent release cycles  
Delivery velocity is compounding while quality capacity is stagnating.  
The result is something we are calling Test Debt. Test Debt is the hidden accumulation of untested change, fragile coverage, and growing release risk. If 2026 becomes the year of technical debt, it will also be the year quality debt surfaces as a board-level issue.
